The Constitution is very specific that if a person is legally in South Africa for 10 years that person is deemed (can easily get) to be a permanent residence of South Africa. Of late we have witnessed selective application of this law. White people and Indian's have been favoured by this pierce of law, the Gupta's come into our minds.

We Zimbabweans have suffered humiliation on the hands of the current Minister of Home Affairs as our issue has not been resolved on time. Up to now we have not received any meaningful response from the Minister. People have now resorted to the courts to force the Minister to give us the permanent residency status. I find that very disturbing considering the roles which our 2 countries have played before and after independence for our countries.

This is a far cry of what we expected from the Minister.
