Minister, it is with more disappointment than any other hope and expectations that was never built in recent years by our leaders in Ramotshere and Ngaka Modiri Molema. I may not want to point to you how government provision of water is a basic right to citizens as I presume it is something you are familiar with and probably heard many times in your current portfolio.
I take time to address this letter to you as a responsible and reasonable leader who would listen to community grievances and address them. You have done well in your previous position or portfolios and I have not doubted your skills to address our water and sanitation issues.
I am writing from Mokgola Village, outside Zeerust. For past 20 years we have struggled with clean water in our village. We had local administration in our village that was taken to Municipal level now we have been informed that it is at District level. These Municipality have not taken our needs serious and have dealt with the matter with neglect. In 2014 community took the matter peacefully to the streets with a hope that then Minister Edna Molewa will help but to date, we still struggling with water.
Mr Minister, I do not believe in my mind that you would be proud to see people going months without proper water, I do not believe that you would be impressed with your people drinking from rivers, especially more than 22 years in democratic environment.
Minister we have running engines that are always empty of diesel, we have plenty of water in our village that need equipment to transfer to taps. According to the little information we have, District is responsible for that running of these engines. We believe that either this admin is transferred to local or the engines are converted to electricity.
Your government has been voted over the years with hope that you will understand our history and you will address it and consider it massively important to rectify. We therefore, humbly request you swiftly intervene in this matter. We understand water is a national “crisis” but please look at people of Mokgola Village.
Hope you will hear our cry and come to our rescue.
Sincerely
