Dear Honourable Minister

It is with great frustration to find myself having to refer this matter to you after unsuccessful attempts requesting the senior management of Home Affairs intervention. My child need to register for grade 12 this year 2020 examination. Last year I visited the Durban Home Affairs office in Durban Station to apply for my daughters’ Identity Card, I was advised to first apply for the change of Surname which will make her eligible to apply of an ID Card in my surname. I submitted all the necessary documents, fees were paid for this process and an assurance was given by officials that this shall take a maximum of six months.

Honorable Minister referring this matter to the Acting DG, Acting DDG and calling the call centre every week trying to ascertain the status of this application has not yield any positive outcome as of today my daughter’s new birth certificate has not been issued by the department and I am unable to apply for her identity card.

I hereby requesting your intervention in this matter Minister as I feel that this department is failing the future of my child.
