Hi Dr my child was born in year 2000 May. When I went to collect her birth certificate it had a wrong spelling. So I decided not to take I asked the home affairs to correct it. I kept going back to check and in 2005 they issued me a certificate with correct names. In March this year I applied for an ID for my daughter since she is now in grade 12. Till today no ID I discovered that the certificate that was issued to me in year 2000 is not registered under my name so that's why I couldn't get her ID. Home affairs issued me a birth certificate registered under my name. That certificate is the I returned because of wrong spelling. When I compared these certificates the ID numbers are not the same towards the end. They said, they cannot correct it because it will take years. I went to Education offices exam section to change details and the certificate registered under my name even though it has wrong spelling all changes I asked them to do are not done. Home affairs told me that the only way my daughter can get an ID is to use this uncorrected certificate. Please help I don't have years exams are starting in October. I can't apply for an ID until this issue sorted. Regards Prudence
