Dear Mr Maimane
I am a very disgruntled resident of Cape Town.
We had a blue water meter installed on our property in November 2017.
We are 6 people living in this house hold.
We get a certain number of litres of water a day which we are ok with and trying to live with the litres we are given. However, in the event that we go away on a weekend, our water carries over to the next day, and the City of Cape Town takes every single litre of water and we are left without water for the rest of the day. If they want to take what was carried over from the previous day why don't they leave our quota for the day instead of leaving us without water. I have tried to explain to the guys that get sent out to us that we have been away on the weekend hence the reason it shows so many litres of water, and its not that we are given those litres a day. If people are not able to do their work then the City needs to look into that
We have a grey water system for our garden, we have a dish washer which only runs when it is full, and that is not every day, its probably every 2nd day. We do not flush our toilets after every use. We are trying to save water like most people
Every time we go through this we are told that the meter is faulty but nothing is being done about it. We at a point where we do not know who to speak to regarding this - leaving us without a drop of water as and when they feel like is not right
