Dear General Cele

I am a resident of katkop in Mount Fletcher and i write this email because my heart is heavy by what is happening in my region. And the police are not doing anything about it!

I don't even know where to start but our parents are living in fear back home in Katkop because of the people who terrorise them with no help from the police. The lastest incident happened about 3 days ago when a group of local boys stormed a home in Golomani Location at about 1am in the morning. This group of 4 youngsters kicked open the door to an older womans home and they had guns. They demanded money, cellphone, laptops, clothes and anything else they could get their hands on. They took all and left the homestead. As if that was not enough, they went to another home still in the same location and did the same, terrorised the family and fled with whatever they could get.

Now, this is not the first incident in the area! People are even fleeing their homes because they are scared at night. Not so long ago, cattle were stolen in the area and an elderly woman was shot and killed in a seperate incident in front of her husband. Up to this date we as the community have had no communication regarding the progress of those cases from the local police station...Katkop Police Station.

The community is terrified as these criminals carry guns and are not scared to kill and rape. We feel so helpless and let down by the law that is supposed to protect us! I write this email to ask from the higher police office what should be done when things get out of hand like this and no one cares? Why is everyone turning a blind eye whereas people are abused and some even loosing their lives? The situation happening at Katkop is beyond sad and disgusting!!!

I appeal to to you, General Cele as this issue is a matter of people's livelihoods that has been taken over by the criminals who still walk the streets freely planning their next attack.
