Dear Mimmy Gondwe.

After numerous attempts to speak to members of the DHET and NAMB regarding the crisis of apprenticeships in South Africa, nobody wants to discuss the situation. The current system is not working, and learners and contracted apprentices are left in despair. One example is an apprentice, who duly fulfilled his contract obligations and completed all his level tests, on the final test he passed and was told he will not receive a trade test certificate and must do a trade test at an accredited trade test facility. There has not been a trade test facility for this particular trade for more than twenty years! And NAMB , Indlela and DHET are aware of this! This apprentice has been tested at his workplace by a Merseta moderator as it was done for twenty years.
This is not fair; the apprentice needs his trade test certificate to become employable so he can provide for his family.
Please assist.
