We have just received an official letter from the Karate Federation confirming that my cousin, Kai Smith age 14 years, has been awarded his South African Protea colours in Kumite.

He has been selected to participate in the upcoming UFAK Region South Tournament, which includes participation from all African countries below the equator.

The letter was received today, and we have been informed that urgent funding is required by 24 April to cover the costs of his kit. Additionally, as the tournament is being held in Durban, he will also require support for transportation from Cape Town.

We are reaching out to inquire whether there are any funding bodies or support programmes in South Africa that assist athletes representing the country in this capacity. If you could kindly direct us to the appropriate department, organisation, or contact person who can assist us in securing funding, it would be deeply appreciated.
