- URGENT ATTENTION AT LEBOMBO BORDER

Dear Minister Schreiber,
I urgently appeal for your attention to the serious chaos currently unfolding at the Lebombo Border Post. South Africans and visitors are standing in queues for hours on our side of the border, with minimal staff available to process passports. The conduct and organisation at the South African control point are deeply unprofessional and completely inadequate for the volume of travellers.
Meanwhile, the Mozambique side is operating smoothly and efficiently, highlighting just how avoidable this situation is.
With the holiday season upon us, the current state of affairs is a clear warning of the absolute gridlock and frustration that awaits if immediate corrective action is not taken. This border post is a gateway for tourism, families, and economic activity — it cannot continue to function under such strain.
I urge you to intervene as a matter of urgency:
• Increase staffing levels
• Improve operational efficiency
• Ensure professional service delivery
• Implement crowd-flow and traffic-flow management
South Africans deserve better, and travellers should not be subjected to unnecessary delays that harm our reputation as a country.
Thank you for your swift attention to this critical issue.
