Dear: Ms Karabo Lerato Khakhau,
I hope this message finds you well.
I sincerely apologize for reaching out to you directly via email, but after watching the parliamentary sitting on 7 May 2025, I felt compelled to share my situation in the hope that my voice will be heard.
I am a final-year student at the University of the Free State currently facing a serious challenge with my NSFAS funding. Due to an administrative error on the part of the institution, incorrect data was submitted to NSFAS, which resulted in my application being rejected. My status now reflects that I hold a higher qualification than I actually do, and my funding was terminated on that basis.
The university has acknowledged that the error was on their side and advised me to follow up with NSFAS to correct the matter. I have been reaching out to NSFAS consistently, every week since February, but unfortunately, I have not received any response to date.
In March, NSFAS officials visited our institution. I attended the session to present my issue but was asked to leave the venue with the assurance that my case would be resolved. However, to this day, no progress has been made.
This ongoing issue has not only affected my academic progress but also my personal well-being. I have been evicted by my landlord and am currently without stable accommodation due to the financial strain.
I am reaching out to humbly request your support or intervention in ensuring that this matter is urgently attended to. I am deeply committed to completing my studies, and I believe that with your help, a resolution can be reached.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my appeal. I look forward to any form of assistance or guidance you may be able to offer.
Kind regards,
Xola Mcingelwa
