I strongly disagree with this proposal not for all the reasons given, My concern there are a lot of males not everyone that are very inconsiderate and will not worry what state that particular toilet is in and then expect the ladies to sit down and use that toilet they have just occupied. It will not work.
We sorry to say this but the ladies will be left sharing toilets with urine odours. We travelled many a time on the Shosholoza Meyl Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth loved the trip the worst part were the toilets and the cleaning staff cleaned regularly but this was a terrible problem. We no longer use the Shosholoza since the bout of accidents and because of this. Do not know if it was ever discussed and thought about. . Everything else we could not complain about. I wrote about three letters asking them to please make it ladies and gents only for one reason nothing else. The people who visit in a home cannot be compared we are sharing toilets with the world here.. Everyone who comes into private homes we know. We dont have someone coming into our home we dont know. It really is just not fair on the ladies of the country to even think of unisex toilets. These international airports are not always cleaned immediately a person walks out. We have watched and seen they stand around just looking there are too many people in and out at times to clean each one as they walk out. I really am urging everyone to really think this over very carefully and not allow this to take place in our country
