Good day, Mr Minister
Shortly after you suggested that tertiary institutions extend the second semester into the 2021 academic year, Unisa sent out its timetable for the October/November examination period. Rather than abiding by your suggestion, it moved most exams forward by weeks and some even by a month.
This semester was cut short due to poor service delivery on Unisa's side as well as by Covid-related issues. Further, many students have not received their study materials and have not had access to Unisa's campuses. Rather than take this into consideration the university has cut the semester even shorter. To be clear, registration ended on 18 August and exams are starting from mid-October.
My fellow students and I ask that you assist us in pushing for fair examination dates so that we have a fair chance of succeeding in our studies and having something to show for an already difficult year.
