"*URGENT APPEAL FOR HELP*
Dear Sihle Lwanzi,
I'm reaching out to you in desperation, seeking your intervention in a pressing matter. I'm one of the employees of the cleaning services provider for the Department of Transport and Community Safety.
We've been facing severe unfair labour practices, including:
Late payment of salaries
Lack of working equipment
No payment for holidays
No uniforms provided
Deductions for late arrival
Unreasonable leave application requirements
Deductions for provident funds and UIF without registration
Unprofessional payslips
No basic salary, earning less money
To make matters worse, after speaking out against these practices, I was suspended along with 8 other employees. The service provider has also intimidated us, claiming to be "well-connected" and threatening that reporting them would be futile.
I've sent multiple emails to the HOD and MEC, but received no response. As a student, I desperately need this job to pay my fees, as I was rejected by NSFAS.
Please, Sihle Lwanzi, I beg of you to intervene in this matter. We need your help to:
1. Address the unfair labour practices
2. Investigate the allegations of harassment and bullying
3. Review the contract between the department and the service provider
We're counting on your support to resolve this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Cleaner at Department of transport and community safety
