Good day madam
I am currently employed by Department of Employment and Labour since 2000. My position of of Team Leader/Superviser in the Inspection and Enforcement Services. We have more that one catagory of Inspectors, whose job is to monitor and enforce various labour laws, ie BCEA. OHS, EEA, UIA, COIDA.
The entry requirement is 3 years qualification in order to be appointed as a Labour Inspector. The strange or funny thing is that BCEA inspector are put in Salary Level 6, OHS Salary Level 8, UIA Salary Level 7. All those people are employed by one employer and their job is to monitor and enforce labour laws.
I feel this is unfair towards a team of inspectors i am leading and they feel that they are not treated the same. The inspectors in the PE Labour Centre has taken the employer to the CCMA in terms of Employment Equity Act, for Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value..
Can you please intervene and address this matter. I trust you and know that as my former leader in my union NEHAWU.
Thank you
