Greetings Dr Nzimande. I am Nomthandazo Msane a UKZN honours applicant. I am having issues with online registration on campus and our staff membera are ignoring our emails. Yet registration due date is on the 1st of April. I am requesting for an extention of registration at UKZN and for our registration to take place manually at our campuses with the COVID regulations being adhered to thus keeping students and staff members safe. I am at the verge of financial exclusion because the instituion demands that i pay a total of R17 000 towards my registaration and outstanding fees in 2021. My registration costs R7000 and 15% of outstanding fees costs R9000. I grew up in a childrens home and majority of my immediate family members have died. I don't qualify for Nsfas funding because this is my second qualification. I have appealed but they have not responded. Can Nsfas please fund me as a loan that i perhaps pay towarss every mobth at least. I earn less than R3500 and loan companies refuse to give me a loan becuase i don't fall under their lending criteria. Please organize ame a loan shark that will agree to lend me money to pay towards my registration or organize someone who will agree to lend me a loan with the amount i am currently earning and i will re -pay them on a monthly payment plan. Instutions like UCT and Wits have allowed their students to register with their previous historic debts. UCT is currently R4m in debt. Why cant UKZN bestow the same courtesy upon its students?
