Dear SCOPA official,
I have had a dispute with Transnet Properties in Cape Town since 2021 when they litigated against me for outsanding rent and took me to the magistrate court in Cape Town.
They applied for summarry judgement but lost the application for summary judgment despite me being too poor to afford legal representation and then defending myself. This gives you an idea of how weak their case against me is. They appointed DM Attorneys to represent them and we had five court appearances only for them not to be successful. I owed them R65 000. DM attorneys’s one attorney was leaving the business and told me that they have already spent close to R100 000 on the matter.
After a year has passed they have just informed me that they will be taking this matter to trial. They have lost round 1 and I will Google my utmost to beat them at trial. As a citizen of our country im appaled at how they spend 3 times the amount to recover their money. This tells me that there is something sinsiter about their dealings with their attorneys advising them to throw good money after bad. Please investigate this matter. Friends in the legal fraternty makes a noise about this relentless litigation by the state – but they fear for their carreers and don’t whistle blow.
This may be a small amount but where there is smoke there is fire!
P.S. please provide me a reference no for this complaint.
Many thanks,
