Dear Barbara Creecy , I would like to point out a few flaws in Capetowns Railways
You can purchase a ticket for a very reasonable price. There is No turnstiles to let you onto the platform just a open doorway.
There are some people in uniforms to give you directions on what side of the platform the trains going with very little help and friendliness.
On the train to my destination my ticket wasn't checked by an inspector on the train , or even at the drop off. I believe that this form of transportation is being taken advantage of by many passengers. By not having some sort of turnstile I also noticed random people walking around the platform begging, using the toilets and even washing themselves, filling up bottles of water. Even if this is a public place I feel this is what is keeping more people away from traveling on the railways. My point is that the system is loosing money hand over fist..
