my name is Walter and I am writing you from Germany to thank you ... for so many things. In a mad world, in a time when so many people seem to hysterically be pushing for war, your voice and demeanor soothingly stands out.

South Africa cannot be thanked enough for pointing out the war crimes of the Israeli army and its racist government against the Palestinian civilian population in front of the War Crimes Tribunal. When the whole world turned a blind eye to the unfolding horror, which is still going on in Gaza, South Africa resoundingly made its voice heard.

Even when subjected to insult, to colonial-style arrogance, to accusations of anti-semtism and personal threats, you spoke your mind and stood your ground with temperance, eloquence, dignity and common sense.

If we had more leaders like you, the world would be a much better place.
