Dear Minister Schreiber,

We have attempted over 200 times to contact your office since May 2026. Your department's continuous refusal to resolve a clear administrative error has now escalated into an active, life-threatening humanitarian emergency.

Your department erroneously updated the National Population Register to state that my 92-year-old mother, Mrs Hildegard Gisela Perold, is deceased. Despite submitting absolute proof to your Krugersdorp office—including a registered doctor’s certificate confirming she is alive and a SAPS fraud case report—your office has ignored every single demand to rectify her status.

As a direct result of your department's complete lack of action, ABSA Bank has now frozen all of her bank accounts.

My mother is exceptionally frail and requires daily medical care. By locking her out of her own money, your department has stripped her of the ability to pay for her care, medicines, and survival essentials. This is a gross, unconscionable violation of her Section 10 (Dignity) and Section 11 (Life) Constitutional rights.

A Final Notice of Imminent Urgent High Court Proceedings has been served on the Director-General. This public post serves as a matter of record for the court to show the sheer scale of systemic negligence and the complete disregard your office has shown for a vulnerable elderly citizen.

Rectify her status on the National Population Register immediately before your department's administrative failure turns into a tragedy.

Sincerely,

Martin Perold
