Minister

This is an urgent letter in distress.

My two sons studied engineering at the above institution.

Over the years we had a few issues with the management relating to physical safety of students, to fairness in access to academic systems at the university. The latter specifically refers to the mechanical engineering department.

My son wrote his last exams during December 2020, (while he lost family members to covid 19), and he unfortunately got to rewrite two of the subjects.
He is now preparing for this, but heard today that he will have to write the two subjects on the same day.

He started with a new job recently and must try to manage the new work experiences with studying for the re-write.

My other son is in the chemical engineering department and is only writing now.

It seems to me that the mechanical engineering department does'nt care about the student and the many hours, months and years these students and their parents have to suffer in pursuing their dreams to be upstanding citizens, family members, etcetera.

I'm reaching out to you to intervene in this matter. It is pointless to try and speak with the lecturers and Head of Department, because of previous experiences.....not only from myself, but from student groups, who also tried in the past to negotiate difficulties

During the first covid 19 lock down, you made a promise that "no student will be left behind"....well I did not see any extra support to the students in my house. Not from government or the university!!!

PLEASE help!

Thank you in anticipation
