Dear Honorable Minister Mckenzie.
My name is Henry Ruiters and i am from the RURAL area just outside of George called TOUWSRANTEN. For the past two years we are struggling to get our newly established rugby club registered at the SWDR union with no success, and it seems that we are going to be unsuccessful again for the next year. We have a standing ruby club in this RURAL community which is ruled by two families in our RURAL area (ward 4) for a period of 24 years, they are the so-called owners of the club, and they maybe in cahoots with some of the board members of SWDRU and that is why we can't get our club registered. The president of the standing club who see himself as the owner of the club belongs to one family, the chairman and head coach of the club is from the second family and together they rule the rugby in our RURAL community like Hitlers everything goes according to their ways and plans and that is why our new club can't get registered because these two guys stand like mountains in our way. The standing club cannot even cater for all the players in this RURAL community from ward 4 because they are making use of players from George and Pacaltsdorp which means about 60% of our youth are than sitting on the bench without playing week after week. The question that immediately arouse in once mind is: Why are these two guys clinging on to their head positions in the standing rugby club does they maybe benefit from the club or is this the reason why their rugby club finances is in such a poor state if the club even do have finances in their account. We also do believe that in these 24 years of their ruling the club, there never was any audit from SWDRU on the club's finances and bank statements. This past year the players of the standing club pay all their travel fees out of their own pockets, entrance fees were paid at the gates when home games were played and functions were held during the year to make funds for their club but now at the end of the year the club has no money for their Gala Awards Evening and yearend party for their players hence the two owners of the club do have the nerve to have the players also pay for these functions out of their own pockets, what happened to the clubs money? Luckily the players stand their ground and refuses to pay for these functions. The community and the rugby players in our RARAL area are very unhappy about this situation and the fact that SWDRU don't want to intervene in this situation, we feel that these so-called owners of the standing rugby club are forcing our youth to stay with their club by standing in the way of the registration of the newly established rugby club hence they knew that it will be too expensive for our youth to join clubs in the George and Knysna area because more than 60% of our youth is farm workers, therefore we are BEGGING our Honorable Minister Gayton Mckenzie to intervene in this delicate situation and help us get the new rugby club registered PLEASE.
