Dear Lindiwe,
Yesterday, President Ramaphosa said that a second envoy to Zimbabwe will have the opportunity to meet government officials as well as other stakeholders. He added that: “Clearly it is important that we get as broad a view of what is happening in Zimbabwe as we possibly can.”
Since the leader of the 31st July Movement, Jacob Ngarivhume, was released from Chikurubi maximum security prison, I hope that the delegation makes time to meet with him and get a first hand account of his ordeal. Video evidence clearly shows that he explicitly called for a peaceful demonstration on 31st July. Instead of the government following the constitution, Mr Ngarivhume was virtually abducted and initially denied private access to his lawyer and family.
Like you, he cares deeply about Zimbabwe's future.
Kind regards,
Dale Dore
