Dear Adrian Roos, regarding smart ID for SA citizens born outside SA. I have lived in SA continuously since 1982. Became a naturalized citizen 24 July 1993. Hold a SA green ID Book, hold a SA passport, hold a SA driving licence etc. First applied for a smart ID on the 7th July 2014 at Pretoria with my wife who received her card (Born in SA). Applied to the DG several years ago for an "Invitation Letter" signed by the DG, still waiting for a response from the DG. Applied again on line December 2024, was allowed to fill in the application, previously not. Arrived at HA Menlyn Pretoria 28.01.25 to find my details recorded and appointment verified, waited in the queue to get in the queue for my ID only to be told "YOU DO NOT QUALIFY!!" My question, is WHY do I and those like me not qualify? Please give me a sensible reason!
