I am writing to express my extreme frustration and disappointment with the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) regarding my ongoing, unsuccessful attempts to apply for a Fostercare Grant for a child in our care since December 2023.

Since January 2024, I have visited both the Bellville and Darling SASSA branches on multiple occasions, spending entire days in queues, only to leave without any progress made. This effort followed instructions from the SASSA call centre, which informed me that my online application could not be processed and that I needed to go to a branch.

However, when I arrive at the branches, I am told that I must first apply online. When I explain that the system will not allow me to proceed with an application, the staff instruct me to contact the call centre again. The call centre, in turn, refers me back to the branch. This endless back-and-forth has left me in a bureaucratic loop, with no clear resolution or accountability.

I have sent multiple emails to SASSA officials and relevant contacts, many of which go unanswered. On the rare occasion I do receive a response, I am told that the matter will be escalated – yet I never hear back.

This is an urgent matter. The child in our care is being directly affected by the lack of access to the grant, which is meant to support vulnerable children in our country. I find it unacceptable that after over a year of consistent effort, I am still being sent in circles with no solution, no follow-up, and no regard for the impact this has on our family and the child concerned.

I respectfully request that your office intervene immediately to resolve this matter. I am more than willing to provide any supporting documentation necessary.
