The recent approval of across the board salary increases to staff of the SABC, during the lockdown period, requires urgent investigation. The SABC is bankrupt, and is currently dependent upon government bail outs to fund its operations. How does the board of a bankrupt organisation approve salary increases for staff during the lockdown period which has dramatically impacted government revenue generation and collection and when the ability of the board and the executive staff of the organisation have failed to keep the organisation financially viable? This must be objected to in the strongest possible terms and the relevant minister called to account to parliament and to the public of South Africa.
