Good day Mr Gayton Mc Kenzie,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Katlego Leso, a 20-year-old aspiring student from Centurion, Gauteng. I am writing to respectfully request any form of assistance or support that you may be able to offer in helping me fund my academic journey abroad.

I have been accepted to study towards a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of York in the United Kingdom, starting in September 2025. This is an incredible opportunity to study at a world-class institution and take a meaningful step toward realising my dream of becoming a legal professional and contributing positively to my community. However, due to severe financial constraints, I am at serious risk of losing this opportunity.

Last year, I was fortunate to receive an offer of admission, but due to financial limitations, I had to defer my studies. I recently contacted the university in hopes of postponing my offer again this year, however, I have been informed that I may not defer again. This means that if I am unable to secure the required funding this year, I will lose my place at the university permanently.

Despite working part-time, applying for numerous scholarships, and exploring the possibility of student loans, I have not been able to raise sufficient funds to cover the costs associated with studying abroad. These include tuition fees of £25,800 (approximately R640,666.37), as well as accommodation, a student visa, travel expenses, and other essential costs such as textbooks and basic living expenses.

Both of my parents are currently unemployed and, as a result, are unable to offer financial assistance or act as guarantors for student loans. This has further limited my funding options.

In light of these challenges, I launched a personal fundraising initiative in hopes of raising the required funds. However, donations have been limited and progress has been slow. I am therefore reaching out in the hope that you might be able to assist in any way possible; whether through funding opportunities, scholarships, sponsorships, or guidance toward any available resources I can apply for.

This opportunity represents more than just a chance for personal advancement. It would also allow me to return home one day equipped with the skills and knowledge to uplift others, especially those from similarly disadvantaged communities. I am determined to work hard and make the most of this opportunity if given the chance.

Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you and am available to provide any additional documentation or information upon request.

Kind regards.

Katlego
