- Request for Consideration of Parliamentary Representation and Support for the Restoration of the QaMaTa Sampradaya

Dear Honourable Speaker,
I respectfully write to present the QaMaTa Sampradaya and to request consideration for its representation within an appropriate structure of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.
This request traces its background to the period of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), led by the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The restoration of Indigenous African religious traditions forms part of the broader historical questions of truth, reconciliation, cultural restoration and the recovery of knowledge affected by South Africa's colonial and apartheid past.
Within the history of the QaMaTa Sampradaya, the work of restoration required the faith to be researched, conceptualised and documented so that its teachings, practices, language and identity could be presented in an organised form.
At the time when this responsibility emerged, the person entrusted with the work was still young.
According to the tradition, the work would become fully articulated at the age of forty, when the different parts of the faith could be assembled and presented.
Against this background, I now present the research undertaken from 1994 to 2026, which has resulted in the development and documentation of:
QaMaTa Sampradaya Concept
QaMaTa Sampradaya Regalia
QaMaTa Sampradaya Incense
QaMaTa Sampradaya Water
IqamaQaMaTa Celestial Scripture
Research Public Notice
These works provide an important foundation for understanding the philosophy, spirituality, practices, sacred symbols and institutional identity of the QaMaTa Sampradaya.
However, one important part of the research remains outstanding.
This is further research to be conducted in India concerning apparent similarities identified within the IqamaQaMaTa, particularly words and phrases that appear to have connections with Sanskrit.
These similarities have raised important questions about possible historical, linguistic, philosophical and spiritual connections between African Indigenous traditions and traditions of the East.
The Eastern traditions have therefore emerged within our research as possible sister-faith traditions requiring comparative study.
These connections cannot be properly understood or academically established without intensive comparative research involving relevant scholars, institutions, languages, scriptures and traditions in India.
We therefore respectfully request the assistance of your Office in helping us identify the appropriate governmental, diplomatic, academic or cultural institutions through which this research may be supported and facilitated.
This research is particularly important for the completion of the IqamaQaMaTa Celestial Scripture.
We seek assistance to finalise its scholarly preparation and printing and to support its translation into English and South African Indigenous languages, so that the scripture and the knowledge contained within it can become accessible to present and future generations.
We further respectfully request Parliament to consider an appropriate form of representation for the QaMaTa Sampradaya within parliamentary processes concerning religion, culture, Indigenous knowledge systems, heritage and traditional spirituality.
We would also appreciate an opportunity to present the research, the IqamaQaMaTa, and the historical background of this restoration before the appropriate parliamentary committee or structure.
Our request is therefore centred on three interconnected matters: restoration, representation and research.
We seek to complete the work that began during the period associated with the Truth and Reconciliation process, establish an appropriate voice for the QaMaTa Sampradaya, and undertake the outstanding international research necessary to understand and preserve its sacred knowledge.
We respectfully request your Office's consideration, assistance and guidance on how these matters may be taken forward.
Yours faithfully,
Qamatanisa Buyisile Sydwell Ngqulwana
