This is a Parent in Western Cape. I am sorry to direct my concern to you. Yesterday I received a report from my son's school showing that he failed because he failed because of Afrikaans which is an additional language.

My son failed Afrikaans in first term and 3rd term but in term 3 he got 37%. In fourth term he passed it and all other subjects passed with good marks. It has been a very difficult year for kids but I tried my best to assist my child and passed everything form 3rd term but final mark show code 1 for Afrikaans.

The reason I am directing this to you is that the school say I must wait for the school to open and the child must go to grade 9(this year's grade) next year until the appeal is submitted and results received. My fear is that this will affect the child's progress in term 1 if he have to start new grade late in the term and same thing like this year will happen.

I kindly request you to assist in speeding up the process as I believe the departments are still open until next week.
