Dear Minister Deon George,
I hope this letter finds you well. I would like to extend my congratulations on the recent completion of the anti-poaching program at the Kruger National Park. This initiative represents a significant step towards protecting our natural heritage and ensuring the sustainability of our wildlife.
However, I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing concern that affects the coastal community of Kommetjie. Residents in our area have frequently observed instances of poaching in our ocean waters, off the Outer Kom. Despite our efforts to report these incidents, it seems that our concerns often go unaddressed, leading to continued illegal activities.
Given the proximity of our community to these poaching activities, I believe it warrants action from your office. I would like to inquire if there is a possibility for SANPARK employees based in Kommetjie to receive specialized training. This training could equip them to respond effectively to poaching reports, thereby enhancing our community's ability to deter illegal activities and protect our marine resources.
Your leadership in this matter would not only reflect commitment to safeguarding our oceans but also foster greater collaboration between your department and our local communities.
Thank you for considering this appeal. I look forward to your response and hope for a positive impact on the safety of our marine environment.
Warm regards,
Maré Morrison
