Dear Minister Schreiber,

I have failed to obtain first time application ID card for my daughter since April 2026 at the Pietermaritzburg Home Affairs.

We have recaptured biometrics for the 6th time back at the same branch and Pretoria resend the same message back saying the biometrics have failed.

Communication between the National Contact Center and branch itself do not align. The most recent visit ( 1 July 2026) to seek the Office Manager's intervention was unsuccessful and I was told by one of the Branch Supervisor's that my daughter's name had a special character (hyphen) in it, which is why it there has been a constant problem. A notification was apparently posted into the system back to Pretoria. I called the contact center on 3 July 2026, and they informed me after checking that the only thing they see on the system is "pending recapture of biometrics" & there is no note from the Pietermaritzburg Branch posted to them to action or correct anything.
