Grant me the opportunity to congratulate you on your appointment as the Minister of Home Affairs. We welcome you.
My name is Johan Ehlers, working for a Mutual Burial society one of the oldest in South Africa.
The registration of deaths at the DHA are done by registered funeral undertakers that has attended a 1 day course in the registration of deaths at DHA. An exam is written and the successful candidates documents are submitted to DHA in Pretoria. It is here where I am pleading your help. In November 2023 we offered our facility in Durban to the offices of the DHA to conduct the training and exams over a two day period. It has been since November 2023 after the documents were submitted to Pretoria, that we are still waiting for these undertakers designation numbers to be registered on the DHA database and the designation number be issued to the undertaker.

I would appreciate if you could assist us and many other undertakers to have there designation numbers issued. It makes it very difficult to assist bereaved families with death certificates. We often have to use of our sister undertakers to assist us with this process.

I am leaving my number here and invite you to contact me in this regard. We could together setup a meeting in Pretoria to further discuss this issue. A humble request to assist us in this very important issue that needs your urgent intervention.
