Good day Sir

My name is Patricia Lekganyane and my son is Ofentse Lekganyane. Ofentse was involved in a car accident on Saturday in the afternoon, the drunken driver collided with him as he lost control of his car. He was arrested and his car was taken to the police station in Atteridgeville.

We went to Atteridgeville Police Station yesterday to get the Accident report and to hear how they will help us with the matter. It took them 2 hours to finally help us. When we finally got help we complained still because we still had questions as the man that collided with my son walked out and we asked how come and they said his lawyer posted bail for him and said no problem.

We were referred to the Captain for explanation. He really talked nicely to us and referred the matter to the police who was doing round abouts before helping us. As in the first he denied to the other officer that he knew nothing about our case when the took us to him it was then that he gave him the information. We asked him what's going to happen to us now seeing that the man is out on bail and what about my car damages and the fact that I took my son to the hospital, and he said most of the time people talk because if there is no one injured they could not open the culpable homoside case. I told him my son went to hospital and my car is damaged. He said that man had an Indian Lawyer and Indians knows the law and they are very powerful, that response did not sit me well and that's where the problem started and my son told him that he cannot tell us how powerful other people are when he is suppose to help us. He said my son must not talk to him as if he was his father of which is a very sensitive issue to my son "the father" due to some personal reasons.

That police man stood up and held my son with the Tshirt saying he will beat him up. We went out of his office to go report the matter to the Captain that referred us to him but he already left the station.

My son was involved in an accident and still having pains and the trauma and this is how we were treated at the Police Station where we thought that we were going to get help. This was really uncalled for and I want this man to be called to order and apologize to us so that in the future he will be able to respect people. Treat people with dignity and pride and practice the Batho Pele Principles that he took the oath on. He must never treat people with race or the way they look to him. I am very disappointed and still shocked. I felt so undermined

Hope I will be given the answer to this and positive feedback as I am a law abiding citizen of this country
