As concern emerging Farmer breeding cattle in Booyskraal, Boons, North West, I hereby request the department especially in marginalized areas. In February 2021, President Cyril Ramaphosa said that he was "impressed with the targeted interventions the DALRRD has extended to help beef farmers in rural areas." market access capacity building agro processing opportunities entrepreneurship development we want to add value to our product .

I hereby requesting the DALRRD to implements funding model for wagyu breeders within North West province.

The animal improvements Act of 1998 recognises the Wagyu Society of South Africa to be the custodian of the wagyu breed in South Africa. This includes it efforts to establish and ensure the integrity of its product.

Definition of Wagyu

Any animal sired by WSA registered sire which is fullblood or purebred for Wagyu breed trade Description. Currently WSA it consists of 150 members, according to scientific report wagyu beef had most benefit to our people especially for health reason, WSA offer marketing opportunity to its members local and abroad which link the value chain process within the red meat industry.

Explain current development within the society and programmes, Society members are currently implementing development program within black farmer around the country, where bulls are loan to black farmer with buyback agreement which detailed that the bull owner will buy all offspring/ calve with SA market price plus 10% after 205 days, The program intention is to provide farmer will knowledge of this new breed, providing farmer will access to market. Currently citizen published presidential beef related to Wagyu breed under Studex Meat umbrella dated 08 April 2020 this will provide excellent market opportunity with our local market, where a piece of 500gr steak cost from R400 depending on the cut and marbling scoring.

Disadvantages of current development program.

• Farmers were not provided with a written contract document.

• Bulls were delivered without animal health care support.

• Farmer were not provided with any formal training or induction to this new breed.

• The buyback agreements are very secretive where detailed supply chain process is not being disclosed.

• Bull owner will buy all calves from the farmer this will to shortage of breeding stock.
