Good day, Your Honorable Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane , my name is Irvin Barry from Worcester in the Western Cape. I am 48 years old married with 3 children. I lived in a community that are inflicted with drug and alcohol abuse, poverty, gangsterism and abuse to women and children. Despite all these challenges in my life a had become a Social Auxiliary worker, for more than 10 years now and had been working in the Substance Abuse field for 19 years, helping persons who are in need and vulnerable. I had been working previously at a Rehabilitation Centre for Alcohol and Drug misuse for 8 years, and is currently employed at the Institution for the Blind here in Worcester, were I am rendering a caring and supporting services to person who are blind and disable.
The reason for this message that I really want to further my career to become a Social Worker and had been accepted to study full time at Huguenot College in Wellington , Western Cape. However I do not have the necessary funding to pay for my tuition fees and are also struggling to get a bursary, because the College is a private institution. I had written letters to companies to get sponsorships or bursaries , but without success. A letter was also written to the Minister of Social Development, Western Cape, where I was also told that the Department could not assist me. This is a childhood dream of mine to become one day a Social Worker and help persons who are in need. I really hope and believe that Your Honorable Dr.Nobuhle Nkabane could help me with this matter.
Kind Regards
Barry
