How did we reach this stage in our lives and revolution, where we fought for non racial society and we got exposed to the continual racialism particularly at former model c schools? My younger children as well as grandchildren were denied admission from Winterberg Agricultural High School at Fort Beaufort. In the case of my youngest child, a son I had to appeal to President Mbeki to have him admitted and he was admitted in April that year. All these kids are from Fort Beaufort Primary a former model c. Winterberg is prepared to accept white kids from outside than the local Black and yet at Fort Beaufort there are two former model c schools a primary and a high school. My grand daughter Liyahluma is the only member of my family that was accepted the rest were rejected. Currently my grand daughter who is only 14 has been rejected by the same school and we were forced to go outside. Outside we found Phandulwazi Agricultural High School that accepted her but she is still at home as the boarding school has no water. It is not Corona virus yet the school is near the dam. We are led to believe that the Department of Basic Education has failed to pay Amathole District Municipality's water. We seriuosly need another school nearby but Winterberg had said no dice. In our town we never had a white kids sent to the township because he has been refused admission, it is only Black kids that are, a shame for non racialism. In order for one's Black child to be admitted a parent must show s/he is able to pay and the child must be super brilliant. To control schools these former model c schools they even if a grand parent is responsible for payment they want a parent to be part of SGB. People like myself who have been part of apartheid activists they make it a point they are not involved. As it is easy for white kids to be accepted from these schools even if the parent had approached the school in the middle of year and unfortunately our leaders are so fearful of whites hence it is seen as a priviledge for us to have kids there.
