Hi Riaan

Thanks for reaching out. Always happy to discuss these matter.

Our full proposal is here:

The summary is that we have shown that it is possible to protect inflation increases for most of the frontline civil service staff (OSD staff) by focusing wage freezes and cuts at the upper echelons of the civil service, where there is a lot of evidence of bloat and significant premium.

I still believe this is the most progressive proposal made by any party. We are NOT proposing to cut wages for teachers, nurses, doctors, police officers and so on. They will all still receive inflation increases. We ARE proposing to cut the number of millionaire managers, and right size the top-heavy civil service.

As for my own increase - I would point out that MPs are not receiving any increase. This is the 5th year out of the last 10 that our increase is 0%. In comparison, the civil service received an average annual increase of 9.6% every year between 2009 and 2019.

Still, our proposal is the most progressive. I hope you agree.

Best,

Geordin
