Minister Senzo.
It is a very delicate and hard issue indeed this wage matter and negotiations. No one indeed can say they would be able to easily and single handedly solve. A lot is involved and all needs to look at other pressing issues facing the country.
As a government worker and patriotic South African I understand both sides. Equally it is wrong for government to make us scapegoats of what is wrong. Billions were stolen for Covid-19. Billions more before because of government corruption. Everywhere you go in government circles looting and corruption are the order of the day. In your inner self do you think public servants should be the ones bearing the brunt of these consequences? A lot of us cross rivers, bear unbearable roads to get to work. We neither have subsidized cars or allowances for transport. Actually what I call roads is not. But we go.
It is only fair that the government don't make mockery of what we go through whilst many in government enjoy the proverbial gravy train. Please Minister Senzo put yourself in our shoes. When money was stolen left, right and center we never heard of 'put the people first'. Let public servant be not made to feel shameful for fighting only for basic things. Look at inflation and prices going up. Petrol is astronomically high for what we paid yet daily we have to go to work. It is easy for you because the car you drive is paid for by the sweat of taxpayers. You dont pay for one liter of petrol. You stay in a government house and fly for free. Not so with public servants.
Hope you will understand this isn't an attack but a bleeding heart expressing its pain.
Regards.
