Dear Minister Siviwe Gwarube
Good morning my leader
I am Glanice Mmantshabi Masilo, currently employed by the Bojanala District Office (SES: Psychological Services Official in a Unit Inclusive Education. My expertise as an LSEN Specialist, I am working with learners in public schools including Mainstream, Full Service and Special Schools. The current job description under is ADHD, Behaviourally Challenged Learners, Emotional Instability, Drugs/Substance Abuse, Suicidal cases and Grade 12 Motivation (Coaching and Mentoring).
The purpose of this letter
Since my appointment in 2023. I visited schools in support of learners who are affected by these social ills. However, an alarm of National intervention is needed. I spoke to our CES to deliver the message to our Director regarding some of intervention needed to reduce this crisis of learners committing suicides. Director is working hard in our District, even the LIFE-SKILLS and UNESCO programme for Parent Child Communication will be effective.
Though, this intervention is great. I am writing in suggesting the National Comparing for addressing Social I'll in another direction.
Recommendations:
1) I am in the North West Province
If we identify specialise individuals in each province to be part of the campaign in trying to address parental involvement. The reason why parental engagement and mentoring is needed it is because mostly learners challenges are due to home situation. This is why, in order to combat and reduce number of emotional instability/suicidal cases is through educating parents.
I hope and wish you and the Deputy Minister will take this serious for the betterment of our country, we need this intervention.
Kindly discuss this with our president and GNU, they might see this as it is the only solution to curve the increasing number of bullying/Drugs and Suicide amongst school children.
Let's add value and moral to South African Schools lives and save generation to come.
Kind regards
GM Masilo
