Hi,

In 2001 I applied for a passport at Umgeni road for a trip to Europe. I was given the bad news that my ID no may be duplicated and was told at that time that I would have to find the other person and ask them to change their ID no. Suffice to say I was powerless in doing this and hence lost out on a trip of a lifetime which I will never be able to afford on my own.

Fast forward 17 years to 28/03/18 when I went to same office to apply for my passport again as I require it to travel in July for a work conference when I was told that the problem has not been resolved. I have checked previously and was told my details are in order on your system
It seems the problem is only picked up when an application for Passport is done which I don’t understand.

I was told to bring in my original ID and parents ID which I did and completed a whole lot of paper work.

I feel that my rights are being infringed and that Home Affairs is holding me back from realising my dreams and aspirations. Also, as this is a work matter, it will definitely affect me negatively in the future in terms of advancement.

I strongly urge the Home Affairs to resolve this matter urgently as I cannot afford to lose out on this work travel as it will hugely affect my life negatively.
My reference no is 00056579644
