My apologies to report on the following to you, but please otherwise utilize this information to improve the service that the police is rendering.
I hail from the town of Tongaat on the North Coast. This is the town that the late struggle stalwart Mr Hurbans lived in and worked hard towards changing the lives of the ordinary citizens, but today the community is facing the warmth of the police.Service delivery by the police has always been a concern.
Today the lockdown has created a bigger problem, meaning that the police is enforcing the law, but the law is applied to the ones that follow.
Let me allow myself to put in point blank to you.
The alcohol sales are continuing, and now the prices have rocketed, but the patrons are still purchasing. The police are attacking and harrassment is targeted towards the sellers in the locations , but the rich tavern owners and bottle store owners are now selling from home. The police are aware of it, but turn a blind eye. Tongaat is a small community, people are now discussing these matters over the dinner table. It is time that you inform the police of the law,,,, and everyone should follow the law. Please Mr Cele, and again please,,, let's clean this beautiful town.
Those bottle store owners,,, alcohol distributors,,, tavern owners,,, need to show respect towards the laws are in place. Those police officers that allow them to operate and turn a blind eye,, need to be brought to book. Once more it reflects on the leadership of the police station in question. Please also note the same applies to the sale cigarettes. One sale counter of cigarettes is still in progress, and is situated on the road or aile that detectives have to pass in order to access their offices, but none of them notice. This is not a time for excuses and friends, but the the police in Tongaat need to implement the lockdown completely. Please Mr Minister,, let's fix these issues,, as the community is frustrated,, ,, ,,
