Good luck Mr Cele on probably the most difficult and important job in the country. I am sure you will agree that it is vital that the community partners with Saps to fight crime. Yet Saps refuse to provide any local crime stats outside of the annual reporting period.

Here is an example of my sector 2 police meeting in Sea Point

Saps : "residential house breaking 20 cases more than last period"
Me : "how many cases in last period?"
Saps : "Can't tell you"

Where is the partnership in that?

We need stats - when, what and where to get communities to jointly fight crime. People on the ground are prepared to work with Saps but please give us information. You have this info in the CAS system in almost real time. We are not interested in using it for political gain and we accept that the data is raw and unaudited.
