Dear Hon Dr Leaon Amos Schreiber

I would like to inquire why we are required to pay such an amount of money to get proof of permanent residence. One has to pay R100 as DHA Application fee and R1550 as VFS Service fee. The total to be paid to get proof of Permanent Residence is R1650.

The Permanent Residence Permit was issued by the department of Home Affairs. Why is it so expensive to get proof of the Permanent Residence and why is the fee the same as the fee for applying for Permanent Residence Permit.

Home Affairs department used to be very efficient and I could contact the department direct and get assisted. VFS doesn't answer their phones and we are just made to pay a lot money for their services which were created so that VFS becomes rich. VFS does nothing extraordinary in the process of applications for visas/permits. I wish the government to revert back to using only Home Affairs depart without VFS. VFS gets a lot of money than government butbVFS doesn't deal with the actual Home affairs work. VFS just receives hard copies of applications on behalf of the department. Department of Home Affairs is still getting the same amount before VFS was brought in the picture. VFS gets more than 2 times what government receives.
