My Name is Faradiba from Bezvalley Community in JHB. I have been in the struggle to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs in my community since 2011. I have challenged the CPF to try and reform the relationship between the community and the police but the police never seizes to amaze me. They keep letting us down. I had drug events in my community to promote family life and speak about the dangers of drug abuse. I closed down 2 drug houses. There has been drug raids too. I work with children at Rhodes Park Library on Saturdays, they are Called Rhodes Park Poetry Buddies. Since last year i have not been able to attend any LDEC meeting, Any CPF Meetings I informed the police that one family in particular has been threatening to kill me and my family if i do not stop what i am doing. I took the threats very serious because I was really afraid, they called me a police informant in from of the whole community. I kept a very low profile. On the 30th March my husband, my son and my neighbor’s husband was brutally stabbed. I am afraid and have been relating this situation to Brigadere Kubone at Jeppe Police Station. My husband was stabbed 5 times, my sun was beaten and stabbed 1 time, and my neighbor who is currently living in the drug house i closed down, was stabbed 6 times and is still currently in hospital going in for his 3rd operation. My husband opened a case after he was in shape to walk and go to the police station, he has one cripple arm. When he was stabbed from the front he threw the suspect with a glass to get away from his knife. The suspect who stabbed him first went to lay a charge of assault against my husband. He went before us because we were still at the hospital fighting for their lives. The police came to lock up my son and my husband and treated us as if we the criminals. I am torn to pieces and cannot understand why this would happen until I realised it had Police office Farouk Akoo written all over it. You see in the past the previous brigadere was fired because I had taken them on for not fulfilling their duties. So I already have a rep with Jeppe police Station. Fact remains the people who attacked me and my family and neighbor promised to kill us, they sent men with guns to see if my son and husband is still alive. I had to send my son, my daughter and granddaughter away from home for safety. While the police act as if the perpetrators are innocent. Please i had gone to the Mayor’s office yesterday and all they could say is that i have to write a complaint and forward it to them. I am losing hope and feeling extremely lonely in this, after working so hard to keep the children in my community safe and drug-free, working with the police to eradicate crime and there is no one to protect me. I work for Khulumani Support Group fighting for basic human right and victim support. What happens to me and my family, my husband has to appear on the 24 April 2018 at the Jeppe Court to defend himself against the people who tried to kill him. My son was locked up for no reason and he is traumatized, my whole family is traumatized. I do not know what to do, please help a public servant of people to get through this, I feel like I am dying.
