Dear Dr. Schreiber,

I have been legally living in South Africa since 2010 - always on a valid permit (study visa, exceptional skills visa, critical skills visa and more recently i was on the spousal permit with work authorisation). I have applied for my renewal permit in March 2022 and I am still waiting for an outcome.

I just called the Home Affairs contact centre today (25 July 2024) and they told me the last time someone worked on my application was on the 6th of March.

I have a 2 year old child born in South Africa and my husband works as a paediatrician in a public hospital in South Africa. This delay is really impacting our day to day lives since we do not know when the outcome is going to come.

I would appreciate an update of when can i expect an outcome. Your help on this will be greatly appreciated.
