Dear Mr Schreiber
My daughter is travelling to Zimbabwe in June and her passport expires in December. As is the case for most travel to a foreign country the passport must be valid for 6 months from date of entry. Because my daughters won't be we are applying for a new one, However she is being charged a penalty for doing so because she is applying to renew her passport when she has more than 6 months validity on her existing one. This should not be the case as most people travelling in the year that their passport expires will most likely need to renew their passport because of the entry rule of six months validity for most countries. Surely the penalty should be charged for people applying for a new passport a year or more in advance not those applying in the year their passport expires.

Vaughn Harvey
