Dear Sir
I plead with you to stand against the idea that online pornography is something that we can take lightly in this country.
1. The definition of prohibited “obscene material”, called the “XX” classification in the Films and Publications Act, 1996 (the Act), must not be watered down, as this will result in making more vile types of pornography and degrading material legally distributable in South Africa;

The online distribution of hard-core pornography (called “X18” material in the Act) must not be legalised, especially not without a credible and official investigation into the impact of pornography on South African society. There exists well documented evidence of the extensive physical, psychological and social harms of pornography, which should first be given proper consideration, before a decision can be taken about wide-spread dissemination of hard-core pornography through the internet.
I appreciate any support that you are willing and able to provide.
