Dear Mr Schreiber
Kindly note my displeasure experienced whilst waiting for systems to go back online in order for me to COLLECT a smart card ID and passport at the Wynberg office. It is totally unacceptable that a public service is offline for two days in a row in this day and age. The mind boggles how it is taking the IT department, two days, to sort out the issue. Absolutely SHOCKING to say the least. Citizens have to spend money on trips to visit offices after receiving smses that their ID/passport is READY for collection. Add to that the burden of having to request leave from employers for more than one occasion when you expected to be helped on the first day. Last but not least, your ID/passport is only kept for a period of 1 MONTH!. I've been here since 06h30 this morning and I still here st 11h50 in hopes that the system goes back online as there is a lack of communication on the status of the system repairs...you are just told'we are offline'
