NSFAS PROBLEM.

I am a student at the Durban University of Technology Riverside Campus, I am doing my final year in Accounting which is 4 years(a bridging course). I arrived in DUT 2016 after my matric & I was funded by Nsfas 2017. I am now doing two modules & Nsfas funded me at the beginning of the year & I received my February book & food allowance. Month end February I receive a message from financial aid- DUT(and a number of other students) saying we no longer funded as per N+2 rule which says I have exceeded 5 years.

I did not understand this message because my 5th year is only this year. I have never recieved my allowance ever since then. This matter was not taken seriously by the DUT SRC & also our financial as this does not affect me only but a number of us.

We know a lot of students who study for more than 5 years & they get funding DUT but to us who haven't even reached 5 years, I sensed an act of inequality. I'm writing with hope for help in this. It it also stressful because we are at home quarantined & we hear only students with Nsfas will be receiving devices, we again feel excluded. I have NEVER studied in any other university/tvet college.

I hope this reaches you in time.
