I write this with a heavy heart as I sit and watch my niece slowly falling into depression.
A very bright kid with great dreams watching it all collapsing before her.

This is her story:
Yamkela applied for nsfas funding in September as soon as the application period opened because she was eager and looking forward to University, she worked extra hard in matric to get the grades she needed to getting into her University of choice stellenboch university. She was provisionally funded and was accepted to University. It is now April and she just found out that she is not funded because apparently she applied fir the "wrong cycle". Nsfas is not willing to help her, she is now sitting with R125000.00 debt, which she has no means of paying as she depends on my mother's grant.

This has greatly affected her mentally and emotionally and she is now in a verge of dropping out because she sees no way out of this.
