Honourable Greetings,
I unfortunately write this email with great distress.
I am a previously funded student and financially eligible for NSFAS yet mam, I am stuck over 3 months in the academic year with no response from NSFAS and I applied in August last year. I am currently studying at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
I understand that this is not the platform to address such matters but mam it is grave desperation that has lead me here. I don't know if the reason my application is not being attended to is because I once studied and was unsuccessful before but I have always been capable and financially disadvantaged and deserving of governmental funding. My journey unfortunately was with great challenges. I am a young black woman in this country, vulnerable and evidently another victim of this country's crimes and they side tracked me for some time but I was able to get academic admission once more however the system views me as another failure and my financial needs in my opinion are unfairly being tossed aside.
I among many other young students are shedding the same tears. Please I beg your office to please intervene and assist us here. I do not wish this pain of going to bed hungry and not affording textbooks and being at risk of being evicted, I don't wish it upon anybody!
I pray this resonates somewhere with your goodness and may you please intervene. Academically I am also deserving and I am not just looking for a free hand out.
The prolonged NSFAS applications I understand are maybe to cut down the number of students that will need funding but this state of limbo with no certain outcome is the worst form of anxiety. Please intervene where you can.
My NSFAS Ref No: OA201708288267493
I will be praying for your response.
Yours respectfully,
Wendy Noxolo.
